Why Tiger Conservation Matters

Why Tiger Conservation Matters
Biodiversity

Why is protecting the natural habitat of tigers and conserving them so crucial for us?

This question finds its answer in the IUCN’s awareness campaign on Global Tiger Day — the tiger is a symbol of ecological balance, an icon of cultural heritage, and the spirit of the wild.

In Bangladesh, tiger populations have shown gradual growth: 106 tigers were recorded in the 2015 census, 114 in 2018, and the latest 2024 census reported 125 tigers.

This year’s global theme for Tiger Day is “Harmonious Coexistence Between Humans and Tigers.”
